Quick answer: choose where the video is going (Email, Discord, WhatsApp, Tiny, or a custom number of megabytes) and tap Compress. Squeezius works out the resolution and quality that fit, re-encodes on your iPhone, and shows you the new size before you save or share it.
How it works
File size is simply quality per second × length. Squeezius reads your video’s length, subtracts room for the sound, and gives the rest of the size budget to the picture. Then it chooses a resolution that budget can support without turning blocky:
- Long video, small limit → it steps down to 720p or 480p so the picture stays clean.
- Short clip, roomy limit → it keeps 1080p (or higher).
- Already small enough → it returns your original, with no quality lost.
The video size calculator shows the same math in your browser if you want to see it.
Presets
| Preset | Target | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Under 15 MB | Gmail and Outlook, with room for email encoding | |
| Discord (free) | Under 19 MB | Discord’s 20 MB free upload limit |
| 720p, under 64 MB | Sends on any connection | |
| Tiny | About 5 MB | Upload forms, slow connections |
| Save space | Same resolution, HEVC | Shrinking videos you keep on your phone |
| Custom | 2–500 MB | Any other limit |
Private by design
Online compressors upload your video to their servers first. Squeezius never does: it uses the same hardware video encoder your Camera app uses, so it’s usually faster than uploading, works offline, and your family videos stay on your phone.
Free and Pro
Videos up to one minute long compress free, as often as you like. Longer videos need Pro. Those are the ones that actually blow past size limits, since a minute of 1080p iPhone video is around 60 MB.
